Inspiration

The inspiration for Personal AI Library came from witnessing the challenges most people face in managing and extracting value from their digital documents. In today's fast-paced world, we accumulate vast amounts of digital content, but finding and utilizing this information effectively remains a challenge. I was particularly inspired by: *The potential of AI to transform how we interact with our documents. *Desire to create a home library like feel online. *It can help students, teachers, professionals basically everyone involved in digital world.

What it does

The inspiration for Personal AI Library came from witnessing the challenges Family members face in managing and extracting value from their digital documents. In today's fast-paced world, we accumulate vast amounts of digital content, but finding and utilizing this information effectively remains a challenge. I was particularly inspired by: The growing need for intelligent document management in professional settings The potential of AI to transform how we interact with our documents The desire to create a more intuitive and accessible way to manage knowledge The emergence of powerful language models and their potential for document analysis

How we built it

The development process followed several key phases:

Phase 1: Foundation Set up the basic document management system *Implemented secure database connections *Created the initial user interface using Streamlit *Established the basic file upload and storage functionality

Phase 2: AI Integration *Implemented document processing pipeline *Added vector semantic search capabilities *Integrated language model for Q&A functionality *Developed document summarization features

Phase 3: Evaluation *Added TruLens for quality evaluation *Implemented performance monitoring *Enhanced user interface and experience *Added advanced features like read aloud functionality

Challenges we ran into

Technical Challenges

  • Document Processing: Handling various document formats and ensuring accurate content extraction
  • Database Integration: Managing efficient storage and retrieval of documents.
  • Balance: I ran out of free credits for Snowflake, got timely support from Devpost team.
  • Trulens Integration: Started this quite late so had to struggle to fit into current code.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Successfully implemented a full RAG pipeline that efficiently processes and analyzes documents
  • Built a robust integration with Snowflake CortexDB that handles document storage and retrieval seamlessly
  • Achieved high-quality document processing with support for multiple file formats

What we learned

  • Experience with Snowflake and CortexDB for document storage and retrieval
  • Proficiency in building interactive web applications using Streamlit
  • Implementation of real-time document processing and analysis
  • Designed an intuitive interface that makes AI features accessible to non-technical users
  • Created a flexible search system that supports both browsing and semantic search
  • All the workshop session were very valuable; each one guided the way forward.
