Follow the preferred personas instead of following the people
Inspiration
Once I started following more people on Twitter, the timelines becomes noisy since the tweets range from personal stuff to professional discussions. Even with concise tweets, it became harder to keep track and stay updated.
What it does
Persona is a twitter client that allows you to follow the preferred personas of your followers instead of following the person. Persona analyzes your tweets to create the personal, professional and social persona and reveals who you were on Twitter. It declutters your timeline by categorizing tweets by personas you follow. Additionally, it classifies whether a tweet is a fact or an opinion that is informative, critical, misleading, fringe, plausible etc.
How we built it
We have implemented RAG on Mistral. We use Mistral embedding stored on Firestore as vector database and use Mistral LLM for persona naming and classification.
Challenges we ran into
We tried building Persona 10 years ago. We used machine learning to classify people’s tweets into separate themed timelines around different topics they tweet about, like their work, personal life, and interests. We were not able to automatically create a persona name or factcheck tweets. With LLMs, we were able to overcome these limitations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A major challenge with generating personas or factchecking tweets would be addressing the bias and transparency of the results from the LLMs. With Mistral's open-source framework, it provides a base to work with and move forward.
What we learned
Need for an unbiased, transparent, open-source framework is imperative to create a credible and trust worthy Persona and for it to be reliable way to consume infromation.
What's next for Persona
Currently we look to launch it as a twitter client and see how it evolves. We plan to integrate into our near.tl product (Google Sites meets Instagram)
