Inspiration

Online learning feels like watching videos, not exploring. We wanted subjects to feel like places you visit, not links you click.

What it does

EduVerse AI is a 3D learning universe — fly around a solar system where the sun is your profile and each planet is a subject. Every subject has a real interactive simulation (physics sliders, a chemistry lab, algorithm visualizers, a 3D heart, a globe), plus a Gemini-powered AI Tutor, real games (Sort Rush, Math Runner, Quiz Blitz), and progress that starts at zero and grows only from what you actually do.

How we built it

React + Three.js (react-three-fiber) + Framer Motion + Tailwind + Zustand, with a Gemini-backed AI Tutor behind a small proxy (Express locally, Netlify Functions in prod) so the API key stays server-side.

Challenges we ran into A planet's own orbit drifting into the spawn point and "auto-entering" itself with no input. Chasing a "broken controls" bug that turned out to be the test browser pausing rendering in the background, not our code. Keeping a floating UI usable on top of a live, WASD-controlled 3D scene. Catching our own bug where new accounts showed fake demo progress instead of zero. Accomplishments we're proud of

Real DSA visualizers built from scratch, a solar system you can actually fly through, and an AI Tutor that's genuinely connected to Gemini and adapts per student.

What we learned

Small details — orbit spacing, empty states, honest zero-progress — matter more than big flashy features.

What's next

Real ML-based recommendations, more interactive simulations, multiplayer study rooms, and mobile controls.
