About the Project Perplexity Copilot is an AI-powered assistant designed to help users navigate complex information, find accurate answers, and accelerate research. The vision was to create a tool that acts as a knowledgeable partner—one that not only provides clarity but also empowers users to make smarter decisions in less time.
Inspiration The inspiration for Perplexity Copilot came from the overwhelming amount of information available online and the frustration of sifting through irrelevant or unreliable sources. I wanted to build something that could cut through the noise and deliver precise, trustworthy insights—much like having an expert copilot by your side on every information journey.
What I Learned Throughout this project, I deepened my understanding of:
Natural Language Processing (NLP): Leveraging advanced AI models to interpret and answer diverse user queries.
User Experience (UX) Design: Crafting intuitive interfaces that make complex technology accessible and enjoyable.
Iterative Development: The importance of prototyping, gathering feedback, and refining features to better serve users’ needs.
How I Built the Project Research & Planning: I started by researching existing AI assistants and identifying gaps in accuracy, speed, and user experience.
Model Integration: I integrated state-of-the-art language models, focusing on providing concise, trustworthy answers.
Interface Design: Using modern web frameworks, I designed a clean, responsive UI that makes interacting with the AI seamless.
Testing & Feedback: I conducted user testing to gather insights and iterated on the design and functionality based on real-world feedback.
Challenges Faced Balancing Accuracy and Speed: Ensuring the AI delivers fast responses without sacrificing the quality or reliability of information.
Handling Ambiguous Queries: Teaching the system to ask clarifying questions when faced with unclear input, rather than guessing or providing incomplete answers.
User Trust: Building features that make the AI’s reasoning transparent, so users can trust and verify the information provided.
