Inspiration

Slow hackathon check-in lines made me want to find a better way.

What it does

Using a bluetooth low energy beacon and accompanying apps, it allows people to check into events more effortlessly while still providing event organizers with validation of attendees.

How I built it

I used a bluetooth low energy enabled arduino to create a beacon. I used react-native to make two android apps, one for the organizer and one for the attendee. Firebase was used for authentication and synchronization of the verification symbol.

Challenges I ran into

Using firebase with react-native took hours to just get working.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Completing an MVP of the product I had envisioned.

What I learned

A ton about both firebase and react-native.

What's next for Permeable

Integrating the app with MLH and other events.
