Inspiration -
We wanted to create a better solution for web2 cookies. By using web3, Perkable is decentralizing data and empowering brands to take back their customers from Google and Meta. Not your data, Not your customers.
What it does -
Perkable.co is a web3 solution that uses erc1155 tokens to decentralize data points (Eg. New York token) for users and allows local merchants (Eg. Businesses in New York) to connect with the user and personalize offers and rewards.
Just moved to Sydney? unlock an SYDNEY token to receive offers and perks from all the local Sydney businesses. Got a dog and live in Sydney? unlock a DOG token and get all the local offers from Sydney pet stores, dog schools and the local community dog groups.
How we built it
- Languages: Mern (Mongodb, express, react, node)
- Frameworks: React/nextjs (frontend), Nestjs (backend)
- Cloud services: AWS ec2 and AWS s3
- Databases: mongodb
- APIs: API REST
- Other technologies: redux toolkit
Challenges we ran into
Finding a crypto wallet that was easy to understand and use for non native crypto users. We decided on using Sequence Wallet as it was easy to sign up and use.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building an MVP that we have used to demo to brands like Warner Music, Socios.com, Wunderman thompson. Which has given us great feedback and interest in using our Perkable solution.
What we learned
Brands are interested in web3 but are struggling to incorporate it into their everyday business. They are not willing to build it themselves and prefer a plug-and-play solution that they can test for themselves. Brands are also concerned with what will happen when cookies are no longer being used as there is no alternative solution for them to directly reach relevant new customers.
What's next for Perkable
With Apple and Google reducing the use of cookies to track customers we believe by using web3, Perkable will create the next generation of cookies and empower brands to take back their customers and give their customers what they really want.
