Inspiration

I decided to make this website about Period Poverty because lately, I've struggled with my period, and most of my friends have too. Because school is starting soon, I wanted to inform others about menstrual products being unavailable in public bathrooms and little known about this subject. I also wanted to encourage/motivate other women and menstruation users to sign petitions and spread awareness about this issue.

What it does

This website informs users about Period Poverty by linking articles, petitions, and facts. It also provides a new user experience so the viewer is pleased to read the information and it isn't confusing. The website also motivates viewers to fight against period poverty and make a difference in their community.

How we built it

I built it using HTML and CSS on Replit. I used numerous CSS properties(such as font size, flex box, background color) and HTML elements(p, header, h1, div).

Challenges we ran into

I ran into the challenge of figuring out how to import an image in the background and using flexbox to align my text and images. And figuring out the padding/margin was also a challenge for me.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of making a presentation about my website and putting a background behind text(it was super challenging). I'm also proud of how well my website looks like the color scheme and the images.

What we learned

I've learned more about flexbox, padding, margin, class, id, and other properties in CSS.

What's next for Period Poverty

After this hackathon, I will add even more information so that the viewers can obtain a wealth of information after visiting the website. I will also link YouTube videos and a fact generator to make it more iterative.
