Inspiration -

Everyday, my mom's meals were never complete without bread, and I always felt her love and warmth through them. It's incredible how food can express love so beautifully. I began to understand the importance of learning to cook, inspired by how effortlessly my mom made toasting seem. However, when I tried it myself, it turned into a disaster. I decided to create a virtual bread toast for my mother, inspired by this hackathon, which provided the motivation I needed.

What it does -

"Happy Toast" is a coded NFT art piece that I created as a dedication to my mother. Users can interact with the bread and toaster in the artwork to properly toast it. Celebratory graphics appear to commemorate this small but special moment.

How I built it -

I utilized p5.js to implement mouse interaction in the artwork. Every pixel of the graphic is coded and not sketched. Additionally, the link can be copied and embedded on any website to enable users to play and interact with the piece.

What we learned -

I've come to realize that small gestures can truly make our loved ones feel cherished. Sometimes, words aren't sufficient, so I may consider creating more interactive experiences like this in the future for those around me. From a coding perspective, the code is beginner-friendly and effectively conveys the message of love.

What's next for Perfectly Happy Toast -

I'm planning to incorporate a time-based element into the toast, where the time of day determines whether the toast is served with jam, curry, or cheese.
