What it does
Penny Passport is a website designed for individuals to allocate amounts from a total budget into default categories that track their expenses during traveling from a variety of preset categories.
The user first enters their name and destination, which after submission, the website will redirect the user to an internal page with a customized header, a grey-empty piechart, and a selection button for users to allocate a certain amount of expenses to a selected category. “John’s budget for Japan.” Following the header, our main pie chart feature is a visual where the allocation of budget out of the total budget will be displayed in percentages. -General methods include: -Deducting from category -Relocating certain expenses from Category A to Category B -Reset the total budget that would clear the sub-budget sectors -Changing percentage on the pie chart after the budget allocation
What we learned
The biggest take aways we gained insight into the development process including the scaling of project difficulties, strengthening teamwork and collaboration dynamics, and engaging in critical thinking despite the challenges. Regardless of the setbacks, with efficient prior knowledge or current knowledge around the programming languages worked with, we believe that we would have successfully developed the functionality of the app.
