Inspiration
We wanted a space for women in CS at Penn to access in order to engage with one another, see who else is in their classes for study groups, and browse through physical resources like classes guides and technical interview preparation documents.
How we built it
We built the app on Meteor.
Challenges we ran into
It was our first time ever using Meteor- our experience had come from using MVC frameworks before. It took a lot just to get it up and running at first.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting some sort of outline for the web app that we plan on fully building out later on, log in/log out
What we learned
We got a deep sense of routing and the general structure of Meteor after experimenting with it a lot. It was also really cool to use MongoDB with it.
What's next for Penn WiCS Resource Website
Building the discussions page in somewhat of a forum format and also gathering data from people to aggregate their classes, year, etc.
