This project aims to solve the annual problem of Penn students scrambling to buy and sell furniture at the beginning and end of the school year. Furniture in off campus housing remains unsold because of no centralized platform to buy and sell items, and the unwanted furniture contributes to a massive trash problem for West Philadelphia residents. We plan to construct an elegant, easy-to-use, and practical web application where students can list and purchase furniture items; furthermore, we will give the option for sellers to donate their listings to local furniture banks. Our goal is that instead of furniture being dumped on the street, unsold items will go to remedying the furniture shortage for those in public housing complexes. Another feature we plan to integrate is an option for students to set a price to move the sold furniture so that other students with cars can collect a fee for helping their fellow students. We plan to use a modern tech stack: Node.js, Apollo Server, React.js, GraphQL, and third party API's like Google Maps to create a seamless user experience that will hopefully be used by Penn students frequently.
