Inspiration
As a new resident of UAE, I had challenges in deciding which bank is suitable for me. After asking classmates, I realised no one knows anything about banks and rely only on parents to carry out their banking activities. In addition, I also noticed students lack the fundamental knowledge of investing. Therefore, i thought of an app that simulates and teaches students investing and banking.
What it does
The app has 4 core functionalities: savings account, loan, starting business and marketplace. Savings account is for the understanding banking activities such as savings interest rate and transfers. Loan is for teaching mindful and responsible borrowing of money. Starting business teaches investment and money management. Marketplace is the heart of the app as it allows students to buy/sell products to maintain a high enough lifestyle score to in the 'economy'.
How we built it
Figma prototype from scratch without templates.
Challenges I ran into
Direct challenge: Making a change in one screen sometimes required many changes due to the ripple effect. Indirect challenge: Video editing and recording
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Great UI build, prototype showcases most of the core functions in an understable way.
What we learned
Great work comes with patience, discipline and consistency.
