Challenges I ran into

Income taxes seem to be a horrible invention. Taxes in general are reasonable of course but punishing people for creating value seems pretty bad to me. Therefore I could not simply use Ether as e.g. https://gitcoin.co/ does because it could be easily exchanged for fiat currencies.
