Inspiration

Daily puzzle trends like LinkedIn’s “Daily Puzzle” and the global success of Wordle showed how powerful short, repeatable challenges can be for learning. As computer science students, we wanted something similar but tailored to our world—debugging, logic, and problem‑solving. We combined that idea with a 3D horror escape‑room theme to make the experience more immersive and exciting, turning study time into a tense, atmospheric challenge rather than a chore.

What it does

The game places players inside a 3D horror escape room where they can walk around, interact with objects, and trigger AI‑generated coding questions. Each of five objects reveals one question, and players must answer all five correctly within ten minutes to escape. A daily leaderboard tracks the fastest solvers, creating a competitive puzzle experience that resets every day.

How we built it

  • A 3D environment built with modern web technologies to allow free movement and object interaction.
  • A question‑generation pipeline powered by AI to create fresh Python debugging challenges every day.
  • A timed gameplay loop that tracks progress, validates answers, and determines success or failure.
  • A leaderboard system that records daily performance and displays rankings inside the game.
  • A horror‑themed UI with flicker effects, static overlays, and atmospheric audio to enhance immersion. ## Challenges we ran into We had issues with integrating and rendering the 3d room with 3d objects that we were using for our horror game design. ## Accomplishments that we're proud of As beginners, we were able overcome our challenge of rendering the 3d room from scratch and for the first time we were able to learn and properly integrate AI to create the questions. We were also able to successfully deploy our product. ## What we learned We learned time-management, teamwork, and communication. We also learned new technical skills such as integrating AI and rendering 3d rooms. ## What's next for peduncle We plan to continue with this project by expanding to many majors and topics not just only computer science and python. We also plan to add more 3d room design and improve AI intergration.
