Our project, Pediatric Immunization Milestone Tracking and Automated Parent Notification Platform, was inspired by the common problem of parents missing vaccination and doctor appointment dates and the difficulty of maintaining paper-based medical records. We wanted to create a simple digital platform that keeps a child’s immunization, doctor check-up, appointment, and prescription history organized in one place.
Through this project, we learned how to develop a full-stack healthcare application, manage role-based access, design databases, build REST APIs, implement automated notifications, and integrate machine learning for vaccination/appointment delay-risk prediction. We built the system using React, Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, and Machine Learning.
One of our main challenges was ensuring that each user—Parent, Doctor, Receptionist, Pharmacy, and Admin—could access only the information relevant to their role. We also faced challenges in integrating different modules, maintaining secure medical records, handling notifications, and connecting the ML prediction module with the main system. Through continuous testing and improvements, we developed a more secure, organized, and user-friendly platform.
