Inspiration

  • In this COVID-19 Pandemic, it is becoming a question of safety to go out and purchase in supermarkets and shops for the customers.

  • This makes everyone to prefer online shopping which affects the local small scale vendors the most. Hence many vendors have turned into peddlers and are trying to sell their products door to door.

  • This makes us to think about the current effort which would satisfy both the customers and the sellers by fixing the price of the articles with nominal profit, selection of goods by the customers at their own place and even they can fix the purchase timing with the peddlers.

What it does

  • This work instantiates a design of an user friendly PIR sensor based detection kit with QR Technology that can assist both the peddlers and the customers to know about the seller, the stock and cost of the items to be sold using a smart phone.

  • This will certainly improve the quality of selling articles, reduce the labor and the save the time for everyone.

  • This method will be highly helpful in fixing up the cost of the goods which definitely increases the profit of the peddlers and can give utmost satisfaction to the customers.

  • This plan can encourage the retail selling of local products and livelihood of small-scale vendors.

Process

  • In this research work, system monitors the vendors passing by the house using motion detection.

  • The motion detection is performed using the PIR Sensor.

  • PIR sensor identifies the change in infrared radiation of warm blooded moving object in its detection range. According to the change in infrared radiation, there will be a change in the voltages generated which will be amplified and be used to turn on the QR code scanner which scans the QR code placed on the vendors vehicle.

  • Raspberry pi is to be developed and installed in the kit to scan the QR code, and it will send a notification to the mobile phones using GSM module.

  • When a vendor comes in the detection range of the PIR sensor, it actuates the QR scanner, the software detects the QR code, it will start to scan and display whatever the vendor has in his vehicle.

  • Once the vendor moves out of detection range of the sensor, the scanning does not occur.

  • The software repeats the process whenever a vendor visits their place.

  • This will save lot of manual labor , time and energy.

  • The peddlers motion detection kit will consists of the following hardware and software parts

  • The hardware part comprises of PIR sensor, power supply, QR Code, Raspberry pi camera, GSM module and a mobile phone.

PIR Sensor

The PIR sensor is the core part of the system. The systems principally function based on infrared radiation, which is emitted from human body.

QR Codes

QR Codes are 2D bar codes that is scanned using exploitation sensible and web capable smart mobile phones having camera, with QR Reader put in as default application, allows one to access some pre-written content such as a web site address, email address, details of things within the catalogue, phone numbers etc.

Raspberry Pi Camera

Raspberry Pi Camera is a portable light weight camera that supports Raspberry Pi. It communicates with Pi using the MIPI camera serial interface protocol. It is normally used in image processing, machine learning or in surveillance projects.

Raspberry Pi

Raspberry pi is a small credit-card sized computer capable of performing various functionalities such as in surveillance systems, military applications, etc. It functions almost as a computer.

GSM Module

A GSM module or a GPRS module is a chip or circuit that will be used to establish communication between a mobile device and the connected detection kit.

  • The software part contains Python codes and algorithms are applied for designing the raspberry pi system in this project kit.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • The proposed kit accurately detects the peddlers and communicates the updated items and costs of the goods available precisely to the residents.

  • The novel cost effective kit recognizes the peddlers unlimitedly and transmits to the mobile instantly.

  • The performance and the reproducibility of the kit also found to be outstanding.

What's next for PEDDLER’S MOTION DETECTION KIT WITH QR TECHNOLOGY

  • In the future, to simplify the progression of the system, we plan to develop an App that can give exactly the updated information of the arrival and costs of each items sold by the peddlers.

Conclusion

  • In this paper, we have suggested a Peddler’s Motion Detection kit using Quick Response Technology based on the combination of PIR Sensor and QR code.

  • Our proposed system consists of Raspberry Pi 3, Arduino, PIR sensor, Raspberry pi camera, GSM Module and QR Code.

  • The major advantage of the kit is the use of common smart phones for reading the updated items listed.

  • The performance of the proposed system is found to be excellent and the operation is very simple.

  • The proposed kit is economically viable and reliable for the peddlers and the customers.

  • This proposed work will highly be helpful in encouraging the production of local products and its sale.

  • This will certainly uplift the livelihood of the small scale vendors, disabled people and also benefit the customers to buy the desired goods at their doorstep with utmost satisfaction.
