Inspiration
As a student, my personal experience inspired the creation of Pedagogue.ai. I often felt that the teaching methods used were too generic, and didn't cater to my unique learning style. Over time, I transitioned from being an auditory and hands-on learner to a visual learner. This journey led me to envision a teaching process that could adapt as dynamically as we, as individuals, evolve.
What it does
Pedagogue.ai is a chatbot designed to support educators in several critical ways. It assists teachers in crafting detailed lesson plans, automates the generation of valuable teaching resources, and provides a grading system with insights into individual student performance, along with suggestions for improvement.
How we built it
To create Pedagogue.ai link, we developed a scalable backend infrastructure. We harnessed existing AI tools like OpenAI's GPT and the Python programming language. The application was meticulously modularized, rigorously tested and seamlessly deployed on the Heroku platform. We integrated it with the Telegram API, making it accessible through the Telegram application, and eliminating the need for users to install an additional app.
Challenges we ran into
Our primary challenge was finding an effective method of delivering our product to educators. Initially, we attempted to offer it as a web application, but we encountered design and frontend issues, as our expertise lay primarily in backend development. A moment of insight led us to the Telegram API, a chat-based platform, that eliminates the need for additional installations on users' devices.
Accomplishments
In addition to solving delivery challenges, we successfully addressed issues related to the resource generator. Since our platform serves K-12 teachers who require image-rich resources, we developed a solution to generate these resources effectively. Leveraging Python and reliable image distribution APIs, we achieved this goal.
What we've learned
Our journey taught us valuable lessons. We realized the importance of offering multiple avenues for service delivery. We also recognized the need for additional customization to enhance the visual appeal of our resources. Most importantly, we learned that with determination and persistence, we can overcome any obstacle and achieve our aspirations.
What's next for Pedagogue.ai
Our focus is now on developing the Grader (Insights) functionality, a feature we plan to refine in the coming weeks. Our free version is already live, and we remain committed to learning from our users to revolutionize the education sector and contribute to SDG Goal 4: Quality Education.
