Inspiration
Peckly started as a personal challenge to build something meaningful using the new generation of AI tools like Codex. I wanted to see if I could turn an idea into a polished, real-world app in a short amount of time.
What it does
Peckly is a simple and clean reminders app that lets users create reminders and organize them into lists. It focuses on clarity and ease of use, helping people stay organized without unnecessary complexity.
How we built it
The app is built natively using SwiftUI in Xcode for iOS and Kotlin in Android Studio for Android. Firebase powers the backend, handling both authentication and the real-time database.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was configuring in-app purchases for both Apple and Google. It wasn’t technically complex, but the number of steps and platform-specific requirements made it very time-consuming.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m really proud that I built such a complete app in almost five days. For the time invested, Peckly feels polished, functional, and very close to production quality.
What we learned
I learned that Android development feels harder than iOS development—though that might be because I already had some experience with iOS. Working across both platforms gave me a much better understanding of their differences.
What's next for Peckly
Next, the goal is to make Peckly fully production-ready and deploy it to the App Store and Google Play Store. After that, the focus will shift to marketing and getting the app in front of real users.
