Inspiration
I love exploring new places, but travel advice is scattered. I wanted to create a focused, community-driven space—like Reddit, but just for travelers.
What it does
Peckers lets users post travel threads, upvote/downvote content, share images, ask for advice, and discover destinations—all in a social, thread-based format.
How we built it
I used React Native for a mobile-first approach and Firebase for backend services. AI helped shape the thread logic, community structure, and content design to feel social yet unique to travel.
Challenges we ran into
Moderation, onboarding flow, and engagement loops were tricky to design. Getting the community vibe right required careful UX planning. AI gave a good start, but social apps need a lot of polish.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I created a fully functioning social app with authentic community mechanics. It’s mobile-friendly, intuitive, and actually fun to explore. A proud moment for a solo builder.
What we learned
Niche social platforms have huge potential when done right. I learned how to balance freedom of expression with UX clarity and how AI can boost early design sprints.
What's next for Untitled
I want to add profiles, badge systems, trending pages, and eventually a trip planner feature that integrates community posts with saved travel lists.
