Inspiration
Big goals often fail not because people are lazy, but because tasks feel too heavy to start. Inspired by the crow-and-pebble story, Pebble proves that consistency, not intensity, fills the pot.
What it does
Pebble takes a user’s task and converts it into a sequence of very small, low-effort actions. Users complete one “pebble” at a time, without pressure, timers, or guilt. The app: Reduces mental resistance Encourages starting instead of procrastinating Works fully offline Focuses on action, not perfection
How we built it
HTML for structure CSS for minimal, calming UI JavaScript for logic and flow localStorage for offline persistence GitHub Pages for deployment No AI, no backend, no internet dependency.
Challenges we ran into
Avoiding overengineering Resisting feature overload Designing for simplicity without boredom Learning when to stop and ship The biggest challenge was psychological, not technical.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Turning an abstract philosophy into a working product Shipping a live, usable app Completing the project under pressure Staying focused on one idea and finishing it
What we learned
Starting is harder than continuing Small actions bypass fear better than motivation Simplicity is a design skill Shipping builds confidence more than planning
What's next for Pebble
Custom pebble sequences per task type Gentle streak visualization Soundless visual rewards Accessibility improvements Mobile-first layout
