🧠Inspiration
While learning new technologies, I realized that staying motivated and making real progress is much easier when you’re not doing it alone. PearPal was inspired by the idea of peer-powered learning—a platform where AI connects people with shared learning goals, creating meaningful partnerships and boosting accountability. The PearAI Hackathon provided the perfect context to build a tool that turns isolated learning into collaborative growth. 🛠️ How I Built It
I created PearPal using Builder.io to prototype a functional, no-login, demo-ready app. Key components include:
A smart pairing form that lets users input goals, interests, and experience level.
MockAPI and hardcoded JSON responses to simulate PearAI’s suggestions for peer matches.
An AI assistant page that mimics PearAI’s learning support with example prompts and replies.
A collaboration dashboard where users can view shared study plans and tasks.
Design features like dark/light mode, breadcrumbs, and dynamic tabs for better UX.
A public demo mode with fictitious data and smooth navigation for judges and testers.
🎓 What I Learned
How to simulate realistic AI behavior with static data while maintaining an engaging user experience.
How to use no-code tools like Builder.io effectively to build polished, multi-functional apps in a limited time.
The importance of accessibility, onboarding clarity, and smooth navigation—especially for hackathon demos.
🚧 Challenges I Faced
Balancing ambitious features with the constraints of a no-code environment.
Simulating AI-driven functionality without a real backend or live NLP model.
Making the app intuitive and rewarding to explore—even when used solo and in demo mode.
🚀 Final Thoughts
PearPal is built to demonstrate how AI can make peer learning more structured, social, and successful. It’s scalable, accessible, and designed with both users and hackathon judges in mind. With PearAI’s future integration, PearPal can become a true co-pilot for collaborative learning.
