Our inspiration for making Pearlin Lab is our experience in playing table-top RPG games. We wanted to create a way to visualize the world we were playing in using augmented reality to add more depth to the games we enjoyed playing.
What it does
Pearlin Lab procedurally generates terrain and uses Unity to display this terrain through tour phone's camera onto a flat surface. Using this augmented reality, the user can walk around and view different parts of the map.
How I built it
We used Unity, ARFoundation, and ARCore to program our application.
Challenges I ran into
The biggest challenge we faced was getting the app to provide live updates to its orientation.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
This was our team's first time using AR, and our first time using Unity. Learning how to use these technologies was very accomplishing.
What's next for Pearlin Lab
Next, we need to add functionality for a admin to create players within the map that can be moved around and interacted with. This will require much additional work and time, but it will be worth it for the amount of enjoyment it will provide.
