Mountains offer adventure, beauty, and challenge, but they can also be unpredictable and dangerous—especially for beginners. Sudden weather changes, high altitude sickness, lack of network connectivity, and limited access to safety information often put trekkers at serious risk. PeakSafe was created to address this problem by providing a simple, reliable, and beginner-friendly mountain safety assistant. The goal of PeakSafe is to help trekkers make safer decisions before and during their journey, even in low-connectivity environments. The platform focuses on three core areas: awareness, prevention, and preparedness. PeakSafe educates users about common mountain risks such as altitude sickness, hypothermia, weather hazards, and trail difficulty. It presents this information in a clear and easy-to-understand way, making it accessible to users with no technical or mountaineering background. Unlike complex navigation or tracking systems, PeakSafe prioritizes ethical and responsible outdoor exploration. It encourages users to respect nature, understand their physical limits, and take informed actions instead of relying on risky assumptions. The project is designed as a lightweight concept that can function as an educational guide and decision-support tool rather than a fully automated system. PeakSafe aligns with the mission of Mountain Madness by promoting safety, sustainability, and thoughtful engagement with mountain environments. By empowering people with the right knowledge at the right time, PeakSafe aims to reduce preventable accidents and make mountain adventures safer for everyone.
