Peaker (Better Finder for Mac)

In everyday life you working with files, you need to move them, finde them, change them. The current OS feels like quicksand. You have everything you need in one Place. Find, Convert and Change.

Inspiration

The Finder in mac is made for everyone, but if you have a specific need you need a Tool or need to open another window or even crop and push slowly windows next to each other. This solves it.

What it does

You can open diffrent Projects with diffrent Windowarragments: Solves that you need specific Windows and Websites and need to get all of them to get started-

You can convert with rightclick: (ffmpeg dependency) Usually you go to a website or a programm to convert your mp4 into a mp3 or clip the last 2 second of a video or transform Four jepgs into an Pdf. This is done in a second with a right click.

Renaming it with AI: (Ollama dependency) If you install a local model and without internet the ai looks at the images and can batch rename what they really are without you looking at that image to decide what to name it.

Multipurposewindows: You have a Filewindow highly customizable finder version You got a Browser where all links are bing opened you need for your project You got a canvas view which allows you to put moodboards together or organize yourself via Notes You got the Previewer which is pretty much the preview in the Finder on steroids, you can simple cut videos and even put Luts over Videos on Log footage and even Emails can be viewed there. You got an Emailviewer you can actually use it as an email client or use the quickmail on the top. You got the AI Pane which can have access to your browser or fileviews to change things or read it out. You got a calendar integration.

How we built it

Only via Codex tested it and use it my self since 3 Months now and work with it every day.

Challenges we ran into

Mostly Vibedebugging and always make sure the design is used coherentnly

That I created a tool that i genuiently like to work with and cant live anymore with out it.

What's next for Peaker (Better Finder for Mac)

The next thing would be a simple editor to remove backgrounds from images or draw on it and put text on it a minimal version of canva but simpler. And better project manager tool instead of using the notes in the canvas view.
