Inspiration

We were very inspired by the difficulty of picking out an outfit everyday, feeling like you have nothing to wear although your closet is full.

What it does

Our website helps users organize their existing closet and style; choose everyday outfits base on location, event, and mood; and make that tough decision of whether to say buy or bye to that tempting new shirt.

How we built it

We used python for our backend and implemented a gemini API key to use it in our program. We divided the backend program into 3 sections - analysis of clothing, recommendation of outfits and clothing, and preview of the outfit results on the person (portrait) the user uploads. The analysis code uses gemini to recognize the piece of clothing (whether it’s a top, which colour, whether it’s short or long sleeves). For the recommendation program, it decides which pieces of clothing compliments each other and pairs it together. Finally using image generation of the gemini API we take the portrait picture of the person and virtual try-on of the recommended clothes to see how it would look on the user before wearing or purchasing the outfit. Going over the front-end, I illustrated the icon and our fashionable mascot: the peacock. Through figma make we imported our designs, color palette, and template to create an interactive site for the user’s every fashion choices.

Challenges

We ran into a problem deploying the Gemini API for image generating, but we were able to overcome it by logging onto the right programs. In the end, we were able to have a seamless integration of Gemini API into our program to help users make those fashion choices.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of how we were able to custom the design our website and then how we were able to integrated with our back-end which contains the Gemini and Weather API.

What we learned

For three of our team members, this was the first ever hackathon they attended. In the process we learned so much about how the backend runs on python, how to implement Gemini API, and how to work with front-end programs like Figma.

What's next for Peak Style

Our next steps will be invite more users to try out our app, because we invite everyone to embrace their true yourself through fashion. There are able to also leave a review by clicking the white heart button on the top right corner.
