Inspiration

Going into the hackathon, we didn't have an idea or any projects that we wanted to do. We decided go outside our comfort zone and try to learn how to use hardware to make something.

What it does

The Karaoke Box, has a speaker that tells the user when the lyrics start, and then it displays the lyrics to the song on the display.

How we built it

We used an Arduino with a 1602 lcd display. We designed our own chassis and connected all the parts together.

Challenges we ran into

As we had no initial ideas, we just got as many parts as we could and tried to think of an idea. This led to many trial and error, with us spending hours on certain parts but realizing that it wouldn't work. A specific challenge was the speaker on our box. Despite getting the speaker to work, it was way too quiet. The sound would also get distorted with difference frequencies.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As a team, we are proud of having finished something. We were set on just completing anything, even if it wasn't exactly as planned.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned about overall hardware, and the connections of microprocessing and circuitry.

What's next for Karaoke Box

Karaoke Box is the first hand experience of hardware for much of our group. We want this to be the first of many similar projects and build more and more on each one.
