Our inspiration was that as students we take notes on paper, or take pictures of notes. Sometimes, these notes or images are inconvenient when we have to manually type up the notes on our laptops in order to have a digital copy. Therefore, we have developed an image or pdf to text file converter which detects words from images or pdfs. We learned how to use GitHub, set up our environment, and gained some experience using the Google Cloud APIs. The technologies we used were the Google Cloud Vision API and Storage API. We faced some challenges along the way such as installing everything across different platforms, git merging conflicts, and that the PDF detection only allowed files in the Google Bucket which caused us to also implement the Storage API.
