PDFBlack - Free Client-Side PDF Tools Suite

Inspiration

Most online PDF utilities require uploading sensitive documents (contracts, invoices, personal IDs) to third-party cloud servers. We created PDFBlack to provide a 100% private, client-side alternative where files never leave the user's browser.

What it does

PDFBlack (https://pdf-black.com) is an all-in-one suite of PDF tools:

• Edit & Annotate: Add text, watermark, and signatures.
• Organize: Merge, split, rotate, crop, foliate, and remove pages.
• Convert: High-fidelity conversion between PDF and Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML, and images.
• Optimize: Local compression and metadata management.

How we built it

Built with Next.js, React, TypeScript, Web Workers, and WebAssembly. All document manipulation runs on multi-threaded background workers directly on the client machine, eliminating server transfer latency and ensuring complete privacy.
