Inspiration

Reading long PDFs at night is hard on the eyes, and most "dark mode" PDF tools just invert colors — turning photos into negatives — or upload your file to a server.

What it does

PDF Dark converts any PDF into a real dark-mode file you can download, share, and reread anywhere. A saturation-based algorithm darkens text and backgrounds while keeping photos and charts in their original colors. The output is a standard PDF, so it stays dark on Kindle, iPad, Acrobat — anywhere.

How we built it

Everything runs client-side in the browser — your file never touches a server (verifiable in DevTools). Built with PDF.js for rendering and a custom canvas pipeline for the color transform.

What's next

More themes, batch conversion, and accessibility presets. PDF Dark is free and MIT-licensed.
