PCOS Plate

Inspired by a personal family member's story of struggling with day-to-day PCOS, our team set out to create a tool to make everyday life easier for women suffering from this stigmatized disorder.

PCOS Plate is a website that quizzes users and returns a list of suggested recipes with the help of the food-based API Spoonacular. It's built primarily in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with an integrated API.

This being our first hackathon, we were challenged by the sheer novelty of many things, including collaborating on a project through version control. It was our first time experimenting with a third-party API, the formatting of which took a good amount of time, but we got it working in the end! Despite HTML's fairly basic tools, we did our best to make the interface as polished and user-friendly as possible.

We hope that in the future, PCOS Plate can be expanded to provide a further array of services for women with PCOS, helping them plan around complications such as period/fertility tracking, exercise, and budgeting as a PCOS diagnosis can be lengthy and expensive.
