September 2026 update

We discovered that the original project documentation accidentally omitted the one Cloudflare tunnel command needed to reproduce the two-computer demo. Sorry to everyone who cloned PCMCP and only found the localhost setup. The handoff shown in the demo was real; the current repo still supports it, and the missing setup is now documented in the README.

PCMCP lets a person or AI agent hand live task state from one computer to another, even across different operating systems, without remote-controlling the destination machine.

What the demo actually does

The host Mac runs the PCMCP Node server. A temporary Cloudflare tunnel exposes that same server to the second computer. The Mac browser connects through localhost while the Windows 10 PC connects through the tunnel URL. Both browsers read and update the same task capsule, so changes appear on the other computer within roughly a second under normal conditions.

The missing setup step was:

cloudflared tunnel --url http://localhost:4173

after running:

npm start

The old live-demo URL was an ephemeral Cloudflare Quick Tunnel and has expired. Generate a fresh tunnel URL using the command above.

WebMCP

When WebMCP is available, the browser exposes explicit send_capsule and receive_capsule tools using document.modelContext.registerTool(...). The normal browser UI can still demonstrate the handoff manually.

Scope

PCMCP transfers and rehydrates task state. It does not currently execute programs or commands on the destination operating system. The platform selector represents the intended destination.

Current prototype limitations

Capsule state is currently in memory and resets with the Node server. The demo uses one shared capsule rather than isolated sessions and is not intended to be used as an unauthenticated production relay.

Full current setup and limitations are documented in the GitHub README.
