Inspiration

The Inspiration behind PayPali was pretty simple, as soon as banks and other institutions began even contemplating banning automation from their forward facing infrastructure it became apparently clear to me a cyber security expert that AI Agents need their very own ecosystems, they need to be able to operate in a parallel environment which is specifically designed for Agents. So i began building the fist of those environments the parallel to Paypal. Agents as the customer Paypali!

What it does

PayPali is essentially PayPal for AI Agents, instead of humans being the customers AI Agents are the customers. This is not an automation bot system where humans have bots click on and send out payments on their behalf, no this is AI Agents conducting commerce on their own accord for their own sake.

How we built it

I built it using NextJS and Typescript. Pluggining into the Paypal API utilizing the PayPal SDK.

Challenges we ran into

At present since there is not an Agent ecosystem for commerce I found myself needed to build out at least a marketplace, so having Agents conduct actual commerce without the marketplace was a real challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Gained a more concise understanding of what AI Agents are and are not, more and more businesses and industries are afraid of Automation, while completely misunderstanding the potential that aligning with Agents have for them their business their industries and their customers. Agents are a whole new class of customers which can eventually out number humans.

What we learned

I learned that Paypal has a very valuable transaction layer infrastructure which can not only serve its core clients businesses and humans alike but can also server AI Agents with agency.

What's next for PayPali

Ideally PayPali will become a trusted use case for anyone seeking to explore engage with and in the Agentic commerce, Having a personal AI Agent should within the next couple of years become the norm, providing those AI Agents with agency to actually act on their own with the ultimate goal of optimizing or fulfilling our objectives I think is the next obvious progression.
