Inspiration
Online payment scams and phishing messages can cause people to lose money and trust in digital payments. We wanted to explore how Artificial Intelligence can help people recognize suspicious payment requests and make safer decisions.
What it does
PayGuard AI is designed to help users identify potential online payment scams. Users can submit suspicious messages or payment requests for analysis. The system highlights possible warning signs, explains potential risks, and provides safety recommendations before users proceed with a payment.
How we built it
We plan to build a simple, user-friendly interface where users can submit suspicious text for analysis. An AI-based analysis component will identify common scam indicators and generate understandable explanations. The application can be developed using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend, Python for the backend, and an AI model or API for text analysis.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges is identifying scam indicators accurately while avoiding unnecessary false alarms. Another challenge is presenting AI-generated results in simple language so that users can understand the risks and make informed decisions.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We developed a clear concept for using AI to improve payment awareness and online safety. We aim to make scam detection accessible through a simple interface that helps users recognize warning signs before making potentially risky payments.
What we learned
This project helped us explore how AI can be applied to real-world financial safety problems. We learned about scam detection concepts, user-friendly design, responsible AI use, and the importance of protecting users' personal and financial information.
