Inspiration
The platform was inspired by the need to address two critical challenges in the workplace:
Firstly, the unpredictable cash flow issues faced by employers, particularly those who pay their employees on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Traditional monthly pay schedules often pose financial management difficulties.
Secondly, there was a need to enhance employee recognition programs, which are frequently seen as ineffective or impersonal, leading to a disconnection and lack of motivation among employees.
What it Does
To tackle these challenges, the platform offers:
Salary Scheduling: It enables employers to offer more frequent disbursement of earned wages, providing greater financial flexibility compared to standard pay schedules.
Payroll Payments: The platform integrates seamlessly with existing payroll systems to ensure secure and efficient payroll processing.
NFT-Based Employee Recognition: Unique NFTs are minted monthly for outstanding employees, serving as a valuable and permanent token of appreciation. This innovative approach aims to boost morale and engagement.
How We Built It
The development of the platform involved:
Backend Technologies: Utilizing smart contract on Polygon, and chainlink automation, the team constructed a robust and scalable backend infrastructure. Blockchain technology was employed for the secure and transparent minting and management of NFTs.
API Integration: The platform was integrated with existing payroll systems for seamless data exchange and automated payment processes. Using tools like Wagmi, Graphql and RainbowKit.
User Interface: A modern, user-friendly interface was designed for ease of use and accessibility, using Figma for design and hosting the website landing page on Framer.
Challenges We Ran Into
The development process was marked by several challenges, including:
Blockchain Integration: Successfully integrating blockchain for NFT minting posed significant technical hurdles.
Chainlink: we tried implementing automation on polygon zkevm but the chain support of chainlink is minimal this redirected our path to the use of polygon mumbai
Data Security: Ensuring the highest level of security in financial transactions was a key concern.
Payroll System Balance: Maintaining a balance between automation and customization in the payroll system required careful consideration and implementation.
Accomplishments We're Proud Of
Despite these challenges, the team achieved:
Multiple Payroll System Integrations: Successfully integrating with a variety of payroll systems. Time-based trigger: automating transactions on blockchain using chainlink.
Enhanced User Experience: Creating a seamless interface for salary scheduling and the NFT-based recognition system.
Events Reading: Reading data offchain when transaction has been initiated.
What We Learned
The project provided key insights into:
User-Centric Design: The critical importance of focusing on user needs in financial technology development. Chainlink tools: The team get to understand more about how chainlink automation is been used and how chainlink CCIP is been used although we where not able to make use of CCIP because chainlink does not support polygon zkevm
Blockchain's Potential: Exploring the vast potential of blockchain technology in enhancing employee recognition and engagement.
Innovation and Adaptation: The need for continuous innovation and adaptation within the financial services landscape to meet evolving demands.
What's Next for the Platform
Looking ahead, the team aims to:
Expand the platform's capabilities and reach, potentially introducing new features and integrations.
Continuously improve the user experience based on feedback and evolving technology trends. Creating an IOT system to aid the marking of attendance by the staffs Explore additional applications of blockchain in the realm of employee engagement and financial management.
