Inspiration

I live in China and am currently experiencing a wage arrears issue, which has significantly impacted my life and family. As an ordinary worker, I deeply understand the importance of receiving timely wages to sustain daily life. This experience has made me empathize with those in developing countries with weak labor laws, who also face the risk of wage arrears. Therefore, I aim to leverage blockchain and Chainlink technologies to protect the rights of these workers.

By staking employees’ daily wages in a transparent account and automatically releasing them on payday, we can ensure timely wage payments while enhancing the transparency and fairness of the wage distribution process. This approach not only guarantees timely payments but also provides workers with greater security and confidence.

What it does

My project includes the following features: 1. Add Employee: Add employee account addresses and daily wages. 2. View Daily Wages: View the daily wages of all employees. 3. Calculate Total Daily Wages: Automatically calculate the total daily wages for all employees (using Chainlink Automation). 4. Randomly Select Lucky Employee and Bonus: Randomly select a lucky employee and allocate a bonus (using Chainlink VRF). 5. Receive Transfers and Distribute Wages: Receive transfers from the owner account and automatically distribute wages.

How we built it

I wrote the smart contracts using Solidity and deployed them on the Ethereum network.

Challenges we ran into

I'm exploring Chainlink functionalities for the first time and needed a bit of debugging. Thanks to the comprehensive documentation on the Chainlink official website, I didn't spend much time on this step. However, due to being caught up in a wage dispute, my development progress has been affected, such as not being able to work on the frontend pages. I hope to continue improving this project in the future to help people in developing countries and regions with weak rule of law avoid experiencing wage payment issues like mine.

What we learned

I learned about some Chainlink-related features, such as Data Feeds, VRF, Functions, and Automation, and applied some of them to smart contracts.

What's next for PayChain

You plan to first add a front-end page for the existing features. After that, you will add more functionalities (such as using Chainlink Data Feeds to get real-time wages) and optimize the existing system. Ultimately, you aim to promote the project to a broader user base, fulfilling the vision of helping more people.
