💡 Inspiration

Email is where critical business happens, but managing routine outreach, answering FAQs, and chasing follow-ups consumes hours. Most tools add more overhead: separate web apps, complex dashboards, and CSVs to manage.

We built Payaam (The Dispatch) around a simple question: What if your AI agent lived directly inside your email inbox and ran silently like a trusted team member? Payaam is a 100% Zero-UI autonomous email delegate that handles outreach, document comprehension, and follow-ups natively over standard email.

⚙️ What It Does

Payaam requires zero apps or dashboards. Email is the entire interface:

  • Multimodal Document Understanding: Attach a company profile PDF. Amazon Bedrock extracts your services, packages, and office details into a private Memory Vault.
  • Autonomous Outreach: Email Payaam your goal and target leads. It drafts bespoke B2B pitches citing verified facts and dispatches them via agent relay or your own domain (CONNECT_SMTP).
  • Anti-Spam Collision Shield: Checks a global DynamoDB registry before sending to prevent multi-tenant spam fatigue within 14 days.
  • Two-Knock Policy: Silently drops bounces. Answers routine client questions (packages, turnaround, location) directly from memory without disturbing your inbox.
  • Action Cards & Mobile Refinements: Surfaces to your inbox ONLY when decisions are needed (budget counters). Reply from your phone with 5 words ("Make it $220 and start Tuesday"), and Payaam turns it into a polished client response.
  • Cryptographic Privacy: Replying DELETE MY DATA [PIN] permanently purges all profile, memory, and mission data in milliseconds.

🛠️ How We Built It

  • Orchestration: Strands Agents SDK, using @tool decorators for Pydantic actions and multi-step reasoning.
  • Multimodal AI: Amazon Bedrock (Claude 3.5 Sonnet) with native document processing for PDF extraction and copywriting.
  • Fast Triage: Amazon Bedrock (Claude 3.5 Haiku) for sub-second intent classification.
  • State & Memory: Amazon DynamoDB tables (Payaam_Users, Payaam_Missions, Payaam_ContactRegistry).
  • Security & Cloud: AES-128 Fernet encryption; hosted 24/7 on an AWS EC2 (t3.micro) instance in us-east-1 over standard IMAP/SMTP.

🚧 Challenges & Learnings

  • Asynchronous RFC-822 State: Correlating multi-turn conversations without browser cookies using In-Reply-To and thread tokens.
  • Infinite Bounce Loops: Engineering an anti-loop filter that drops DSNs and automated bounces before invoking the agent.
  • Two-Knock Calibration: Ensuring routine FAQs stay silent while budget negotiations reliably trigger Action Cards.

Adding automated calendar invites and expanding the Zero-UI delegate experience to WhatsApp and Slack.
