Inspiration
The inspiration behind Pay Parity Hub comes from the global need to address gender pay equality. We aim to create awareness, empower individuals, and drive collective actions towards achieving fair wages and pay parity.
What it does
Pay Parity Hub is an interactive web application that provides data visualization of the gender pay gap through a map. It displays country rankings and relevant laws regarding equal gender pay. Users can sign petitions, access detailed petition information, and view their signed petitions. The profile page utilizes Auth0 for user authentication and displays user information.
How we built it
Pay Parity Hub was built using React.js, Vite, Tailwind CSS, and Auth0 for user authentication. The map visualization is implemented using data visualization libraries. API integrations provide country rankings and relevant laws. GitHub was used for version control and collaboration.
Challenges we ran into
During the development of Pay Parity Hub, challenges included implementing the interactive map visualization and incorporating the petition signing functionality. Auth0 authentication integration and handling user profile data also presented challenges.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of successfully implementing a visually appealing and interactive map visualization. The petition signing feature provides users with an engaging platform to support the cause. The seamless Auth0 integration and user profile display showcase our dedication to a polished user experience.
What we learned
Throughout the development process, we gained valuable experience in using React.js, Vite, Tailwind CSS, and Auth0. We honed our skills in data visualization and API integration. Additionally, working with GitHub for version control and collaborative development enhanced our workflow efficiency.
What's next for Pay Parity Hub
In the future, we plan to expand Pay Parity Hub's features by incorporating comment sections, image uploads, and blog integration. We will also continue to gather and update country data to ensure accurate rankings and laws. Growing the user community and fostering partnerships with organizations will be key to driving advocacy efforts.
