Pay Me Back (PMB)

Inspiration

We were inspired after going grocery shopping with friends to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival. After grocery shopping our friend spent a long time calculating the costs for each person since some people asked her to bring individual groceries back while other just needed to share the cost of dinner. Hence, we wanted to make an app that would make it easy to sort and calculate costs when a group of people aren't splitting exactly evenly.

What it does

This app scans a receipt and put that information on an interface that allows the user to toggle the purchased items to split between a group of people, or a specific person. They can build individual receipts for each person and send those as bills. Each person can also pay bills to others.

How we built it

We built it using React and made a wireframe using Figma. NOTE: This application is intended for mobile use only.

Challenges we ran into

In our group, we were inexperienced with React and Figma, so we found it difficult to work with at first.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to make a whole wireframe with Figma and implement the calculation logic using React.

What we learned

We learned how to use Figma and React.

What's next for Pay Me Back (PMB)

We want to complete the implementation for the different aspects and potentially expand to more payment options.
