Pay Green

Inspiration

The inspiration behind our app came from our curiosity as to how we can make managing our finances something that not only benefits us, but our planet as well!

What it does

Pay Green helps users make greener financial decisions by educating users on the costs behind their credit cards and how they can use their finances to make more sustainable choices to reduce their carbon footprint. Users are able to track all of their credit cards on one app to avoid missing payments while learning how they can help the planet. We created a Figma prototype that runs through all the features on our app, as well as a backend that has the structures used for each feature and a carbon footprint calculator.

How we built it

We used a lot of pencil and paper to brainstorm, assign tasks, and to come up with initial design sketches. From there, we used Figma to create our high-fidelity prototype and Django for the backend.

Challenges we ran into

In order to provide our users with the most accurate service, we took a lot of time to research about the various credit cards and how to provide sustainable alternatives to reduce carbon emissions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating a prototype that envisions our ideas and our ability to work together as a team!

What we learned

We learned how to use Figma, Django, and how to combine two fields that seem to be very different from each other (Finances and Sustainability).

What's next for Pay Green

We hope to utilize our prototype and backend to create a fully functional application. When possible, we hope to leverage AI tools to give more specific sustainable financial advice to each user based on their location and spending history.
