Inspiration

We love dogs, but training them can be tough and frustrating. Most dog owners struggle with leash pulling, barking, accidents in the house, and other common problems. We wanted to make training easier, so we created Pawtrain—the first AI-powered dog training app that gives you a personalized plan for your dog.

What it does

Pawtrain helps you train your dog with fun, easy-to-follow daily plans. Just scan your dog to get started, point your phone at your training session, and get real-time feedback from the Pawtrain Cam. The app tracks progress, rewards good behavior, and keeps you motivated with daily streaks and progress charts. Our methods are force-free and approved by vets, so your dog’s safety comes first.

How we built it

We used AI to analyze your dog’s behavior in real time. We personlize training plans to specific dogs and used a mix of OpenAI vision model, powered by Convex in the backend and Expo in the front end started in Bolt.

Challenges we ran into

Getting the AI to accurately track and understand different dog behaviors was tricky, especially with so many breeds and sizes. Making the app easy for anyone to use, and making sure the feedback was quick and helpful, took a lot of testing and tweaking.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

We’re proud that Pawtrain can help with all the most common dog training problems—like leash pulling, barking, and accidents in the house. We also made sure the app is simple to use and fun, so more people can enjoy training their dogs.

What we learned

We learned a lot about dog behavior, AI, and what dog owners really want. Personalization and fast feedback make a big difference. We also learned that supporting force-free, positive methods is important for both dogs and their people.

What’s next for Pawtrain - AI Dog Trainer

Next, we want to add more features, like leaderboards, training levels and sharing features. We’re also working on making the app even smarter, so it can help with more advanced training and support more difficult to train behaviors.
