  PAWSignal Dashboard – AI-Assisted Animal Rescue and Case Prioritization

Inspiration

PAWSignal was inspired by the need for faster and more informed animal rescue coordination. In emergency situations, responders need to quickly understand the severity of a case and identify suitable help nearby.

What we built

PAWSignal is an AI-assisted animal welfare and rescue coordination platform. It analyzes visible welfare indicators from reported cases, generates a PAWScore and priority level, explains the reasons behind the assessment, and recommends suitable verified responders based on availability, specialization, location, and case requirements.

What we learned

We learned how to combine AI-assisted assessment with a practical web application workflow. We also gained experience building case management, responder matching, status tracking, location handling, and a responsive user interface.

Challenges

One of our main challenges was connecting the AI assessment with the rescue coordination workflow while keeping the system understandable for human operators. We designed PAWSignal so that AI supports decision-making while final intervention decisions remain with human responders and veterinary professionals.
