PawsAndReflect

PawsAndReflect combines the therapeutic practice of writing with the joy of funny cats! Our platform encourages regular journaling by generating funny cat images that capture what you did and how you felt on a given day! Whether you're detailing a challenging day at work or celebrating a personal victory, PawsAndReflect adds a touch of whimsy and motivation to keep you engaged, promoting consistency in your journaling habit and thereby supporting better mental health.

How we built it

The project consists of a React web app that creates an image generation prompt from the journal entry with GPT 3.5 and subsequently generates an image using DALLE-3. We prompt engineered both stages of out pipeline to produce funny cat images. The web app was bootstrapped with Create React App. We deployed the app on Vercel so that anyone anywhere can journal with funny cats!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Johannes is proud to finally have some Front-End experience under his belt. Embyr is proud of her ability to create something cool quickly and amazing art. We really enjoyed making this project.

What we learned

Embyr, who has extensive Front-End experience, realized it is easy to create small projects with React and plans to build more stuff in her free time. Johannes had no Front-End experience before this project . He is very happy to have some React experience under his belt now.

What's next for PawsAndReflect

If there's enough demand, we will create a cross-platform mobile application with Flutter, and start up a simple server that handles the prompt pipeline efficiently for many users. We would add functionality for users to create an account and keep their journal entries within the app rather than downloading them.
