Inspiration

In our everyday life we see a lot of stray animals face abuse, homelessness, starvation, illness and also death. Living in streets is a challenge even for humans. Family and home are the most essential things for every creature. That's why helping these innocent animals is extremely important. This inspired us to take up this project to help these helpless strays.

What it does

  1. It develops a positive human-companion animal relationship for our street animals.
  2. It campaigns to end the use of all animals in entertainment, sacrifice and captivity.
  3. Educate, research and litigate to end the use and abuse of animals in food and clothing.

How we built it

  1. Firstly we created a road map of how our website is going to look like.
  2. We divided and distributed the work among ourselves based on our strengths and capabilities.
  3. Using html and css languages we build the website.
  4. Lastly, we made a presentation video and explained about our project.

Challenges we ran into

  1. To provide appealing user experience.
  2. Collaborating with shelter homes.
  3. Coding in time constraint.
  4. As we were using some software for the first time, it took time to get a hang of it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. We feel satisfied for contributing a little by making website for helping those stray animals.
  2. As we are participating for the first time ever in the hackathon, completing the project in the given period of time is a great achievement for us.

What we learned

There were a number of things that our team learned from the process.

  1. The most notable thing that we learned was that time management and organization are subtle but key factors when it comes to working on the website (especially in the short time span of a hackathon). 2. Team work.
  2. We got to know a lot of things about shelter homes and problems faced by stray animals.
  3. To use different platforms like GitHub, Devpost etc.

What's next for Paws and Crawls

We believe that our product has a lot of potential and room for both improvement and adjustments.

  1. Firstly, it we would be quite obvious that we would like to expand our website on a bigger platform and continue our service towards humanity.
  2. By this same token, we would also want to make sure that we continue to update our own database in order to provide the most accurate information possible.
  3. Besides, we also want to collaborate with as many shelter homes as possible.
