Inspiration: Every time we have had conversations with commuters, they have always mentioned the common frustration of finding a parking spot in a timely manner.

PAWrking+ is a demo app that shows and notifies available parking spots on campus for commuters in real-time. The app would be connected to sensors on the parking spots to mark whether or not they are open for commuters to park in.

How we built it: Using Google Gemini and Claude Code to refine our idea and creation of the app, we incorporated python, HTML, and CSS. For the data processing, we utilized redis, elasticache, and svg.

Challenges we ran into: How to make buttons on the app visually functional for the user. Integrating a voice chat for the driver so it minimalizes risk in distracted driving. Data for parking and sensors to mark the existing open parking spots (we used temporary filler data for this demo).

Accomplishments that we're proud of: Finding a potential solution that can solve the ongoing struggle of finding parking spaces on campus, and potential budgeting for the cost of sensor implementation.

What we learned: The importance of researching components of an app, and the features needed to make it user-friendly. We also learned how/where to start with app development.

What's next for PAWrking+: Budgeting for parking spot sensors to update the app with actual real-time data.
