PawPrint is a platform dedicated for animal shelters and adoption. With PawPrint, we showcase our adorable animals in need of loving homes. But that's not all – PawPrint also welcomes users seeking animal companions to explore and connect with these shelter pets. It's a win-win; shelters get more visibility, and potential pet owners find their perfect furry friends easily.
Inspiration
Animal shelter is not a new thing, but most animal shelters run as a non-profit organization. This means that they may not have enough capital to create software. Our vision is to create a solution to provide an easy-to-use service that allows shelters to manage their animal shelter digitally while being able to link with the community.
Features
- Emergency Reports: Report if there were any lost animals in your area.
- Admin Dashboard: Admins can save manage shelter information.
- Adoption Requests: Users can submit adoption requests for specific animals.
- Compatibility Algorithm: Suggest a suitable animal matches based on adopter preferences
Tech Stack
Frontend:
- VueJS
Backend:
- Flask
- Tensorflow
Challenges
This project was an overload especially as a solo made project, here are some faced:
- The compatibility algorithm wasn't really accurate because we weren't to gather real data, we used mock data for user preference and animal data.
- We didn't finish the authentication part (which was supposed to be easy) for the user and admin.
- Most of the front-end UI was not integrated with the API
- Time management between a bunch of school assignments and hackathons.
Our vision
For the coming future, I will be wanting to finish the planned features that has not yet been implemented (eg: sos alert, emergency reports).
