🚀 Inspiration We love our dogs like family, but knowing what’s best for them can be stressful, confusing, and expensive. With overloaded vet clinics, rising costs, and pet owners turning to Google or Reddit for guidance, we saw an opportunity to build an intelligent, dog-specific assistant that delivers personalized, trustworthy, 24/7 support. PawPal was born to ease that anxiety and give every dog their own digital health advocate.
💡 What it does PawPal uses AI to act as your dog’s always-available health companion. You can chat with it about symptoms, diet, or behavior. Snap a photo of your dog’s skin, stool, or food and get AI-driven insights powered by visual diagnosis. Upload vet notes, and PawPal will learn from them. It recommends personalized products (like food or toys), tracks your dog’s health, and soon, it’ll offer a 24/7 emergency vet hotline.

Vision AI: Fine-tuned CNN models for image-based health classification
Cloud Infra: Deployed on Vercel + Supabase + AWS S3 for image storage

🧱 Challenges we ran into Training the vision model to handle a wide variety of dog breeds, lighting conditions, and anatomical images was tricky.
Ensuring the chatbot doesn’t overstep or offer risky medical suggestions took careful prompt design and safety layering.
Integrating and parsing unstructured vet note PDFs into clean, structured data for personalization took time.
Making it feel like PawPal "knows your dog" — not just any dog — required deep personalization logic.
