Every day, millions of dog owners struggle to train and understand their pets — not because they don’t love them, but because professional training is expensive, time-consuming, and often inaccessible. I wanted to create something that makes dog training and care as easy and fun as Duolingo, while improving animal well-being through technology.
I was inspired by how AI can now understand emotions, behavior, and even tone, so I asked myself:
“What if AI could become your dog’s personal trainer and behavior coach?” That idea became PawPal AI — a playful, intelligent companion that helps people build better relationships with their dogs.
💡 What It Does
PawPal AI is an AI-powered dog training and behavior coaching app that helps owners:
Analyze dog behavior through text, photo, or video
Get real-time guidance from Luna, their AI trainer
Chat with Lumi, the AI vet assistant
Check dog symptoms, track moods, and discover trends
Use voice and video features to understand their pets more deeply
It’s like having a professional trainer and vet in your pocket, available 24/7.
🛠️ How We Built It
Designed a Flutter mobile app with a kawaii, Duolingo-style interface
Integrated Supabase for authentication, database, and user tracking
Connected Gemini AI for multimodal (text, image, video) behavior analysis
Used Tavus AI to power Luna — the interactive video trainer
Integrated ElevenLabs for natural voice interactions and translations
Managed paywall and subscriptions with RevenueCat
Analyzed user trends and pet progress using Firebase + custom analytics
Each feature was built around one question:
“How can we make pet training smarter, safer, and more human?”
🧠 Challenges We Faced
Combining multiple AI services (Gemini + Tavus + ElevenLabs) into a seamless mobile experience
Building accurate behavior and emotion detection for diverse dog breeds
Designing a friendly UI that feels approachable, not robotic
Optimizing AI inference speed for real-time coaching on mobile devices
Balancing fun gamification with reliable, educational insights
Every challenge taught us something new about AI-human-animal interaction — a space full of potential.
🌱 What We Learned
How to integrate multimodal AI into mobile apps effectively
The importance of empathetic design in AI-driven pet technology
That innovation often starts with a small everyday problem — like teaching your dog to listen — and scales into something that changes lives
🚀 What’s Next
Adding smartwatch-based AI mood tracking for dogs
Partnering with vets and shelters to promote responsible pet ownership
Expanding to support cats and other companion animals
PawPal AI isn’t just a training tool — it’s the future of compassionate, connected pet care. ❤️
