Inspiration
With the level of concern rising due to strays animals and the Delhi cases or the government decisions about Strays dogs.
What it does
PawHope will be a platform for animal welfare. On one side, anyone can report a stray, Injured, or abandoned animal by snapping a photo, dropping a location pin, and adding a short note (eg, "Injured leg" , "no collar"). This alert goes out to nearby registered shelters, NGOs, and volunteers, who can claim the case and update the reporter on what happens next. On the other side, shelters can register on the platform and list animals currently in their care that are available for adoption complete with photos, notes, History and contact details. This means someone looking to adopt doesn't have to search shelter by shelter; they can browse verified, nearby options in one place. Over time, the same animals rescued through community reports could end up listed for adoption on the platform, closing the loop from "found on the street" to "found a home."
How we built it
This is a concept-stage submission due to time constraints-no code was written yet. The Idea is fully fleshed out as a user flow: 1) Report a stray 2) Shelter/volunteer claims case 3) Animal rescued/treated 4) If unclaimed, animal is listed on the shelter's adoption page 5) Adopters browse and connect directly with shelters.
Challenges we ran into
Main concern of ours is Designing a system that balances real-time reporting speed with the need for shelters to verify and manage cases. Also how to prevent fake or duplicate reports
What's next for PawHope
1) Build an MVP with a map-based reporting interface and a shelter registration portal 2) Partner with local vet clinics for emergency triage support 3) Add real time notification and constant update for the reporter
