Inspiration:
We’ve all been there: staring at a textbook or a code editor for hours, watching our screen time skyrocket while our actual productivity hits rock bottom. The traditional focus apps feel clinical, rigid, and honestly... pretty lonely. I wanted to break that paralysis. I wanted to build an environment that strikes the perfect balance between a cozy, comforting study space and a firm, relatable wake-up call. That’s how Paw-Study was born. It’s an AI companion designed to protect your focus, organize your tasks, and remind you—sometimes with a bit of tough love—to stop doomscrolling and get things done.
What I Learned:
Building Paw-Study was a massive lesson in full-stack execution and user experience design. I learned how to: Integrate Multi-Modal Tools: Bringing together a working Pomodoro timer, a live PDF reader, a custom notepad, and an ambient sound system into a single, cohesive dashboard. Leverage Strategic AI Pipelines: Utilizing clear AI mechanics to drive engagement and using an AI voice model to streamline the product demo narrative. Design Pattern Interrupts: Discovering how a shift from soft, cozy aesthetics to direct, witty callouts can dramatically improve user focus and keep people engaged.
How I Built the Project:
Paw-Study was engineered from scratch with a single-minded focus on clean, intuitive user workflows: The Core Brain: A dynamic Pomodoro tracking engine featuring customizable intervals, a responsive progress tracker, and custom unlockable achievements. The Dashboard Ecosystem: Developed an all-in-one environment so users never have to leave the tab-integrating an interactive To-Do list, functional scratchpads, and a live PDF uploading module for seamless reading. The Gamified Economy: Built a custom "Treat Shop" system where users earn treats based on real focus milestones to upgrade their digital cat companion’s environment.
Challenges Faced:
The biggest challenge was scope and time management-trying to build an entire functional ecosystem in a tight window without letting it get overly complex. Initially, I worried about tying everything together perfectly, but breaking down the logic step-by-step allowed me to turn complex features into smooth user interactions. Another hurdle was finding the right tone for the user feedback system. I didn't want a boring, standard tracker, so I leaned into creating a witty, slightly "roasting" tracking dynamic (like the "Tracker for your lazy ass" metric) to keep the experience memorable, authentic, and fun.
What it does:
It studies with you when you are studying and motivates you to study, earn a reward and feed your cat.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
I found about this hackathon when the dead line was 5 days left and i didn't lose my hope and made this.
What's next for Paw-Study
Many updates will come soon....
