Every day, many patients arrive at their physicians' offices, eager to gain clarity regarding different healthcare issues but unfortunately end up leaving the visit still filled with uncertainty, confusion, and questions that have gone unanswered.

What it does

patientPrep works by utilizing data from health databases and previous patients in order to create a recommended set of questions that the user can then ask during their hospital visit to ensure they are getting all the pertinent information. patientPrep gives the patient the tools that he or she needs to take control of their care by suggesting 5 questions most likely to be helpful for the patient based on matching the patient's visit reason, pertinent medical history, demographic data, and personal goals to similar patients before them.

How we built it

Over the past 44 hours, we did market research, created a prototype and built a functioning app to address this. We used to design a slick user interface and the Ionic framework using Angular to create a hybrid application compatible with both Android and iOS then integrated it with a backend database created using Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

We learned several new software within a short amount time. We do not have data yet, so we created synthetic data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a functioning app in one weekend. We thought about so many aspects of patient care and user experience.

What we learned

That it takes lots of different expertise and a multidisciplinary team to create a valuable healthcare app. We also learned the importance of and how to differentiate ourselves from competitors.

What's next for patientPrep

We want to add more functionalities and acquire users for beta testing.
